Street Echos: Shanghai Exhibition Featuring New York City Subway Maps

On September 26, 2024, Museum of Graffiti opened its very first exhibition on mainland China, right in the heart of the Changning District of Shanghai—the biggest city in the entire country. The exhibition, entitled Street Echos, was prepared over the greater part of the past year and combines an explanation of graffiti's humble roots with the current status of the art form. The enormous space is equipped with a lifesize train, a full skate park, an area dubbed the 'playground,' a record store installation, and a heavy emphasis on new technology that teaches visitors the techniques of the trade.

I'm honored to be part of this incredible exhibition with my New York City Subway Maps, which are featured in the record store installation.

Reggae and Dancehall Artists by Still Alive

In the summer of 2024, I dedicated my work to my favorite Reggae and Dancehall artists. Reggae and Dancehall hold as much personal significance to me as 90s rap, the music I grew up with. Most of the canvases are 50x40 cm, either in portrait or landscape format, with the exception of Bob Marley, who was painted on a larger 70x70 cm canvas. One Love!

Book: 50 New York City Subway Maps by Still Alive

Following the Group Show "50 Years Of Hip-Hop" at Kolly Gallery in Zurich, where I exhibited my New York City Subway Maps, I suggested to Molotow the idea of publishing a book that would feature these maps. It's worth noting that all of the maps were created exclusively using Molotow One4All Markers.

Urban Canvas: Murals Transform Cities into Open Galleries

Murals have an incredible power to transform the urban landscape into open-air galleries. These large-scale works of art adorn the walls of our cities, adding color, vibrancy, and stories to the concrete jungle. With every brushstroke, these murals bring life to neglected spaces, turning them into visual narratives that reflect the essence of the community.

Keeping Classic Graffiti Alive

As a kid, I was captivated by the graffiti my young eyes beheld. Later, when life became challenging, I was drawn to the tags on the streets. Homeboys and Flygirls armed with markers and spray cans. That's what I aspired to be too. I began tagging my name in the late '80s, and as I grew older, my involvement with paint grew. Since then, I've been enjoying expressing my essence through graffiti and continue to write my name on the walls.

Using colors and painting on various canvases

I take delight in picking up any colors, markers, or any tools at hand to create something unique. It's a source of enjoyment and personal expression, and I derive immense satisfaction from witnessing the final result.

Conveying Concepts through Illustrations

My illustrations take the form of hand-drawn sketches that I later refine digitally using a computer. Typically, I create these illustrations in black and white and apply colors to them using digital tools.

My illustrations serve various commercial purposes, finding application in digital advertising, print media, marketing materials, and beyond. Whether it's creating eye-catching visuals, designing graphics for websites, or producing artwork for promotional materials, my illustrations are versatile and tailored to meet the specific needs of clients across various sectors.

Digital

Transition

A Fresh Perspective on Art

In the early 2010s, I transitioned to digital art. I began with comics and later expanded into graphic design, posters, stickers, and apparel, such as T-shirts and hoodies. This digital approach added a fresh, innovative dimension to my work.

Crafting a 3D Graffiti Showcase for Layup Shop in 2019

In 2019, I created a 3D graffiti piece for Layup Shop in Bern, utilizing various metals for the lettering. Using a thin, easily cut metal based on my sketch, I added a 3D effect with 10 cm thick polystyrene. The lightweight design made it portable and suitable for display in the store.
